    Стихотворение писалось давно, в раннем студенчестве, поэтому на глубину мысли не претендует.

  
   Fashion
   (February, 2000)
  
   Fashion, fashion! Who's your ferrier?
   Who's the maker of your mood?
   Why on earth we have this barrier
   Called in private "fashionhood"?
  
   Who's that parvenue, good liver?
   Who's the maker of this mess?
   Is he sorry? Does he shiver?
   Is he ready to confess?
  
   Clothes, accessories, vacation,
   Where to go and what to do
   Every man in every nation
   Does what fashion makes him do.
  
   In the handcuffs called "conventions",
   Slaves of "Tell me what'd they think",
   People travel through dimensions
   Of design. They smoke and drink,
  
   Wear smiles of pinkish plastic,
   Golden dresses, teeth and rings,
   Calling tasteless trash "fantastic"
   While ignoring simple things,
  
   Get undressed, if it's required,
   Laugh at stupid horny jokes.
   That's when common sense gets tired,
   Fashion laughs and conscience chokes.
