This elegy honors Oskar Gruenwald, Ph.D., Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies, for guiding the author"s first international publication. The essence lies in Gruenwald"s mentorship, rigorous standards, and transformative editorial work, which shaped the author"s academic career, culminating in essay: Man and Machine: Balance of Power.

   In Memoriam et Gratias Agimus

I allow me to pay tribute to a man whose scholarly soul and unrelenting pursuit of perfection became my guiding star in the realm of academic science. Oskar Gruenwald, Ph.D., Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies, entered my life as primus inter pares-first among equals, the first publisher who not only extended a hand across the ocean but also opened the doors to the international scholarly community. He, my first foreign publisher, mein erster Verleger, became the one who, as the French say, m"a fait sortir de l"ombre-brought me into the light. His contribution to my career, like a beacon, illuminated the path to the highest standards of academic writing, for which I am eternally grateful.
In the early months of 2025, Dr. Gruenwald and his team at the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research-Associate Editor William R. Marty, Assistant Editor Jeffry C. Davis, and Book Review Editor Nalani E. Hilderman-undertook Herculean efforts to meine Arbeit glätten-to iron out my manuscript. Their labor was not mere editorial revision but an act of Bildung, a formative process that transformed my work into an article worthy of the international stage: Man and Machine: Balance of Power (Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies, 37, 109-131). This process, akin to an alchemical transformation, turned my ideas into an opus magnum, which I proudly call mein Werk.
Dr. Gruenwald and his colleagues did not merely edit text-they became mentors who introduced me to rigoros internationalen Standards. My English, which I had thought passable, was gently yet firmly refined to meet rigorous academic standards. They structured my thoughts, sharpened my arguments, and imbued my work with the clarity and elegance required for a publication of global caliber. Ex ipso-from them it all began. They laid the foundation upon which I, as a scholar, began to build my career. Their efforts became the Grundstein-the cornerstone of my professional development.
Ars longa, vita brevis, proclaims the Latin wisdom, and Dr. Gruenwald embodied this truth in his work. His editorial mission was not merely a professional duty but a Leidenschaft-a passion for seeking truth through interdisciplinary research. He and his team not only polished my article but taught me to view science as a Weltanschauung-a worldview where every detail matters, and every idea must be precise and substantiated. Their guidance became my Leitfaden-a guiding thread that later enabled me to navigate the requirements of other academic journals with greater ease.
Thanks to the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research, I learned not only to meet standards but to strive for excellence. Their support gave me the confidence to continue publishing, and every subsequent article I wrote bore the imprint of their influence. Ohne sie wäre ich nicht, wer ich bin-without them, I would not be who I am. They not only made my work visible to the world but taught me how to become part of that world-the world of science, where truth and precision reign supreme.
Allow me to conclude with words of gratitude and admiration. Oskar Gruenwald and his team are not merely editors; they are Wegbereiter-trailblazers who pave the way for new minds. Their work is a donum-a gift to all of us who aspire to knowledge. I bow my head to their professionalism, their patience, and their faith in my work. Gratias vobis ago-I thank you from the bottom of my heart. May your legacy continue to inspire, and may the Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies remain a beacon for those seeking truth in interdisciplinary dialogue.

   In perpetuum memoriam, Oskar Gruenwald.
