Ignoring the reasons,
Ignoring the rules,
I run to the prison
To find there my youth.
And nothing is better
Than the water and bread,
Than the stony shelter,
Than the life of the dead.
I walk in the courtyard
With the ball on my leg;
Now it has become a part
Of my life as an insect.
My punishment's over,
I leave this vile zoo.
I feel much more sober
Than the most fools like you.
I'm free without freedom,
I'm trapped in myself;
I'm a king with no kingdom,
I was made for my cell.
A hundred steps the wrong way,
One flash to my end.
The last words I will say -
I'm free from this land!
