What is knowledge good for?
It makes you step out from the tiny HERE and NOW
morass of your immediate environment into the wide world
of possibilities and freedom.
Knowledge is not good because it's good.Because it's right.
Scientists all the time make new theories annihilating old ones,
and new ones are equally subject to annihilation.
Knowledge is beauty. When I made an algorythm in my high school,
I was joyed by my solution and the beauty I saw in it.
Getting to know a beautiful painting, Chinese, French -
you don't get any practical results of it, you just feel nice.
Some say, knowledge is power.
I don't care for power, and , accordingly, for knowledge as power.
But knowledge CAN be practical.
Astronomy made possible sea travel.
But racing after knowledge, you waste your life.
And besides knowledge, there is much value in non-knowledge.
Innocence of the boy brings him happiness.
Stepping outside of what you know, you may see the fresh angle.
Vast knowledge limits and constrains.
To throw away knowledge, to discard knowledge, start anew
