HOMONYMS - WITNESS OF THE NEAR NEIGHBOUR OF LANGUAGES

(Mockonyms - main type of such homonyms)

  
   About near, neighbouring contact of some nationality in remote Past we can judge by one variety of homonym, which have a contrary, often a derisive sense. I name it "Mockonym", a words, which has a high, significant sense for one peoples, but mocking, humiliating sense for its near neighbour, with him the first has a very intimate contact, even rather friendly. More often than not Mockonym's created among simple peoples, but reasons for it's create can arise and among some highest circles. At times of global language(not only) reforms very many Mockonyms are creating inside one country, where some circles are interested in mocking, denial a previous doctrine. In Russia such has been tacking a place in X-XI and XVIII-XIX . Later I'll write about a first "Mockonization" of our Language, that we name like "Babel Tower".
   But enough an idle words! Let us see some examples from the ancient English, Russian, and some other, that in this article I give in limited number!

   But Word "Bljad" early had another sense: gas-bag, windbag...

Bana(bane) - Banja(bath-house)

Brucan(food) - Brjucva(swede!)

(swede - Swede)

   For us an Angles eat only Brjucva, for Angles - their friend Sweden.

Belgan(anger) - Belgian(!)

   I understand why Angles was running away!

Bog(Sax. Collar; bog) - Bog(God!)

   But...

God - Gad(snake) but God(Year)

Cause - Koza(she-goat)

   You...

Casten(throw) - Costi(bone)

Corage(spirit, nature) - Corejit(writhe)

Dead - Ded(grandfather)

Deman(to deem, judge) - Demon(devil)

Deofol(devil) - Defolt(I am sorry, it's your)

Duru(door) - Dura(fool)

   Of course a closed doors is big folly in our Life!

Diuri(Sax. Dear) - Dura...

Dohtor(daughter) - Dohtor(pillow)

Drihten, Truhtin(G) (Lord, Creator) - Drihnet(sleep) and Truten(drone)

Folc(peope) - Volk(Wolf)

Irri(anger) - Iriy(Eden)

Lah(low, humble) - Ljah(Ljah)

Lath(evil, pain) - Les(wood)

Lic(body) - Lic(face of holy!)

Neowol(prone, prostrate) - Newolja(slavery!)

Pleoh(risk) - Plevok(spit)

Reward(reward) - Rivaty(push)

Syn(sin) - Sin(son)

Swarian(answer) - Swarnik(peevish)

Sweorkan(become dark) - Swerkat(sparkle)

Wanian(wane, fade) - Wanja(our national name!)

   Your next Do - is impotent! It haven't fruit!

Ege(awe, terror) - Jaga(grandmother Jaga) or Egda(Heva)

Ethel(residence, property) - Osilo(trap, snare!)

   There is in no laughing mood!

Fugal(bird) - Pugalo(bugbear)

Hlew(funeral mound) - Hlev(cow-house)

Lagu(law, custom) - laja(rubbish)

Meniga(many) - menshe(less)

Maht(might) - Mat(curse)

Mot(may) - Mot(waster)

Pagan - Pogan(trash, rotter...)

Peple(people) - Pepel(Ash)

Rasbora(leader) - Rasboinik(robber)

Sacan(strive, accuse) - Zakon(law)

   Angles is more right!

Sala(soul of Normann) - Salo(fat)

Stol(stool, seat, throne) - Stol(table)

Sunne(sun) - Sunny(snow sledge)

Sweart(dark) - Svet(light)

Swaru(oath) - Svara(discord)

   We're in no mood for laughter! But...

Swin(pig) - Swinja(pig)

Swincan(toil) - Ishachit(work like ass)

   But...

To-dalan(divide) = Delit(divide)

   O, Germ say:

Diot(people, language...!) - Idiot(idiot)

   Because your

Weder(weather) was not - Wedro(sun weather)

   And we think about

Winnan(toil hard, labour, win), forgeting about Wanja Wine(friend)....

   Yes, nobody is past laugher!
   But, this and other nuances only witness me in our near dwelling with Angles, Sax in some time at the Amber shore. Now I don't recall such words like "slave", "slavic" and other. Among a simple people there are no such sense. Great Carl didn't has mark behind the Elba-Odra. Why?! There was the History Desert? No! Tongue prompt answer for us. In this land near Uttland we and Angle, and other his kinsman lived and laughed...
   There is one problem for this article - in word "write". Its Mockonym in Russian is "Write"(lie), and I must paraphrase one proverb: "The writing word is lie". When simple people use this Mockonyms that is joke, but when a "big" man use it this is a business!...
   Now I understand why A. Pushkin so loved and used a folklore, where every word is a "poem"! After him we received many new Mockonyms of new English and own(Slavic) old words...
   But in this article we only begin our talk about that type of Homonym which is a telltale witness of a near neighbourhood of a peoples better then an Annals and the words with similar root and sense.
