In the woods a green pine tree was born
The tree grew wide and tall
All year round the pine was green 
During the heat, frost, and between. 
 
A rabbit played with a squirrel there
In the nice shade of the tree  
A wolf, a fox and also a deer
Came by the play to see. 


We call this pine a Christmas tree
We cut it from the snow
Come join us and you'll see
How we made this tree glow.

Jews came to us with kosher wine 
For eight days and eight nights
They loved so much this shiny pine
That"s brighter than candle lights.

"Hanukah bush" they called this pine
They hung gelt on the twigs 
They stayed with us the whole ninth night
And kosher wine we swigged
