Glistening of blood and clangour of steel swords,
Clay of the rivers and glimpses of doom.
Glare of pain in the eyes that don't need words,
Eternal as darkness and  deep waters' gloom.

Glow of despair  and a glance of perceiving.
From black into red, in a desperate endeavour.
And the last gleam of hope of staying, of living
Is given for glory - forever and ever.

This fell beast of fire won't give back its hostage,
And day after night they get clenched in its claw.
The numbers unnumbered of those on the utmost edge
Will grow just as long as the World's having War.
