At one time, I was surprised that reputable radio stations, using my intellectual product, out of a sense of entrepreneurial conscientiousness and simple human decency, did not mention either my surname or my works. It cost them nothing to give - in the form of a kind of payment - to any of my material in air, advertising in my favor, or to use my content in another official form and to pay me a fee.
At first I was surprised. Then, I stopped being surprised, in this theme.
About a month ago, during one of the broadcasts, one of the regular participants uttered the phrase through his teeth: "If the intellectual property right is not protected, then the theft of an intellectual product will be natural."
This person is not a full-time employee of the radio station - he is an invited specialist. The very appearance of this phrase speaks of the remnants of a microscopic portion of "old-fashioned" integrity, respectability in him ... It is somehow embarrassing for a person who considers himself a respectable figure to be involved in someone else's intellectual borrowing. What can he do? To refuse to participate in radio broadcasts on this radio station? In our time, actions motivated by moral considerations are not welcome. Especially if they involve any financial losses.
As for the radio station staff members, they keep silent... They pretend that they know nothing, notice nothing and are not involved in anything.
This is about the same - as with, for example, a bike ride project. I once read an article on this topic in one of the online magazines. A group of guys created such a project and started organizing bike rides.
And what? Good idea!
(After successful start of project) The guys were carefully 'squeezed out' from the city streets, and some official organization began itself to conduct bike rides.
Theoretically - especially in the West - it is possible to protect a certain volume of rights to such a project as an annual bike ride.
But in Russia it is extremely problematic to do this. If individuals are opposed by an official organization, then no legal tricks will help.
It would seem - that it cost influential people to buy back of the project from the inventors - to buy the idea for noticeable money. There are advantages in this option - if you leave aside the emotions from a successful operation and the benefit of some kind of financial savings.
On this occasion, the singer Bortkevich, one of the members of the Pesnyary [Pesniary] ensemble, comes to mind. He was surprised - how is it so, a significant number of ensembles called "Pesnyary" operate in different countries. "Well, what are they" Pesnyary "?".
And to some extent it is easier to protect the ensemble than the idea (project) of an annual bike ride.
In the West, it is also not easy to protect rights - these are very complex procedures. But violators are afraid of a higher level of public intolerance, complete or significant destruction of business reputation (for those who like to cheat), huge fines ...
I took all this into account when I heard that a certain culturological magazine was organized.
Perhaps there is such a science - cultural studies (culturology). Why shouldn't she be? I have not come across any culturological works - except for my own. I myself took this name because of the low prevalence of the term and in connection with the need to emphasize the theme of culture in my works.
It seems that I posted my first 'culturological essay' on the Internet on October 9, 2019. Since then, I have been posting 'culturological essays' ('culturological notes') more or less regularly. During this entire period, I don't remember a single 'culturological' work of other authors - if there are such works, then they are not very common among the ordinary users.
And the topic has been discussed and is being discussed by me to a large extent due to the fact that I am interested in the phenomenon of the development of a criminal sub-culture in the modern Russia.
If someone filters material on the Internet, then this influential someone is interested in "interception" (free use of someone else's intellectual product), creating a kind of a "quasi-double" - in diverting attention from my works and switching attention to the "quasi -double".
What is my intellectual product?
If there is such a science of culturology, and if there are such scientists - culturologists, then perhaps they write something that is not known to the general population, and which, perhaps, is of little interest to these broad strata.
A proven opportunity to regularly provide material on the topic of cultural studies, approaches to covering the topic, principles for presenting material - this is (at least) the same intellectual product that cannot be defended.
A caring influencer filtering material on the Internet might - if he possesses such big amount of public money - to offer me to publish my culturological essays in a collection and pay me a fee.
The topic of cultural studies (culturology) is important! The collection could be distributed at public events, and with good design and good illustrations, even try to put it on sale.
But, firstly, there are 'their own' and 'not their own' people. The money is received mainly by 'their own'.
Secondly, is such an influential person interested in discussing the development of a criminal sub-culture?
All these thoughts were somewhere in tenth plane (for me). What is the point of writing again about what everyone knows, and what causes almost zero public reaction. Parallel import - what is it? Violation of someone's rights? Someone denounced parallel imports?
However, I noticed an interesting effect.
The more I wrote essays on toponymy, the less geographical names were mentioned in the current radio news.
If ten days ago I could hear a dozen new (for me) geographical names, today I have not heard almost a single one.
This led me to the idea that someone had already filtered my essays on toponymy, that this someone liked the topic, and that, perhaps, a toponymic journal will appear after the culturological journal. To borrow - so to borrow!
Naturally, if such a journal will appear, then its creators will pretend that no one paid any attention to the Zalessky's essays on toponymy. As for the publication of essays in the collection and the payment of a fee, it is clear that 'not their own' can not to count on anything like this.
It was somehow not very interesting for me to write about one magazine - a culturological one. But when the possibility of creating a toponymic journal appeared on the horizon, then I decided that, perhaps, there was material for a note on modern business morality.
