Alexander Suvorov's ruble. Tsarist rubles as a tutorial products. An antique note.

In one of the biographies of Heinrich Schliemann, I met such an opinion. Schliemann, who for the first time in Greece came into contact with rare things, sincerely believed that the heroes of Homer's works touched these things.

So after all, I recently mentioned Alexander Suvorov. In one of the books about Suvorov, the author of the book mentioned a silver ruble donated by the Empress Elizaveta Petrovna to the young Suvorov who was on duty. Suvorov did not take the ruble, since such an action would be a violation of the charter, Elizaveta Petrovna laid a silver ruble at his feet - so that after the end of the duty, Suvorov would take it.

May be, it was very this silver ruble that I accidentally acquired some time among other silver coins?

I don't remember exactly, I'll have to check.

If it turns out that I have such a ruble, then the question of its price will arise.

The price of a coin, at first glance, is directly related to its authenticity.

  Quite a difficult question.

They say about "Demidov's rubles" that they contained better quality silver than in "Catherine's rubles". I don't think that the 'Demidov rubles' are somehow inferior to the 'Catherine' ones in terms of authenticity, although formally they should be classified as fakes.

In general, what is the value of "old, ancient coins"?

Information sources convince me that value of "old coins" is in their authenticity and their antiquity. I will not refute this opinion, but I will try to look at this issue more broadly.

Can, for example, the "royal ruble" be a teaching aid (a tutorial object)?

This is an excellent tutorial object that complements book material with visual and tactile sensations, makes historical information visual.

Here is Suvorov, here is Elizaveta Petrovna, here is a silver ruble. History comes alive. The tangled historical information, which is pumping into the brains of unfortunate students (in great volumes), is easily assimilated.

I prefer to stick with the belief that the coin is genuine until proven otherwise.

Let's imagine that a chemistry teacher is able to prove that a coin is out of silver, or, conversely, that it is not silver one. Excellent! This is much more obvious when compared with confusing and of little use to most people chemical formulas. Here is a clear example of the application of chemical knowledge, which you can see, which you can feel.

Suppose teacher managed to prove that the coin is not silver. Excellent! This is an occasion for a physics teacher (and other teachers) to talk about modern technologies - how they have advanced in comparison with past times. Again, students have a visual tutorial object at their disposal.

In any case, the cost of such a teaching aid as the royal ruble will not be less than 10,000 - 15,000 rubles. It is not so easy to make a real coin out of silver or out of "white metal".

Thus, putting aside questions of authenticity and of antiquity (time, period of manufacture), we see the independent value of the "royal ruble" - for example, its value as a teaching aid (a tutorial object).

So, I need to check - may be I once accidentally acquired the 'Suvorov ruble' - the ruble donated by Elizaveta Petrovna to the young Alexander Suvorov, who was on duty.

I will look on the Internet for the cost of such a ruble and I will put it up for sale at an average price.

As an exception - to reduce the risks of the buyer - it will be possible to agree with sale of such ruble at a price of 10,000 - 15,000 modern Russian rubles? A trade - it is a maneuvering in matters of price.
