Brahmins and Pariahs of the Global Oil Market. An Essay on the Global Economy.
Until the 1940s and 1950s (and for some time thereafter), the global oil market was competitive.
After the breakdown of the oil embargo in the 1970s, the oil market became a market of buyers. It became more and more controlled. Throughout (Amid) the fog of small, medium, and large players, the outlines of a mysterious global operator-the Western collective credit and exchange professional (specialist) -began to emerge.
Between the 20th and 21st centuries, the side of sellers began to stratify into Brahmins and Pariahs (Paraiyars). The advantage of side of buyers was reinforced by the development of "green" and "alternative" energy (energy branch).
Brahmins sold oil relatively freely (at their own discretion), while Pariahs sought buyers and were willing to sell oil at a significant price reduction (with a price discount).
At the beginning of the 21st century, a second global operator emerged on the buyer's-side - an Eastern economic giant.
There was a hope for Pariahs. First, it was better to sell oil at a low price than not to sell it at all. Second, if events were favorable, there was a hypothetical possibility that the Pariahs would come into the circle of Brahmins. However, neither one (neither any) of the two global operators, nor both of them (together), had any particular interest in rising oil prices (which would occur if the Pariahs would come into the circle of Brahmins).
With the oil market becoming less competitive and increasingly (more) controlled, and with two global operators coexisting, the global oil market is in a transitional state.
The side of sellers is experiencing the influence of conflicting trends. On the one hand, vast financial assets have accumulated on the side of sellers. On the other hand, the political influence of the side of sellers is weakening. The political influence of the Pariahs is declining by definition (in a natural way). The Brahmins' influence is weakening as market control increases; with the developing of a "green" and "alternative" energy (energy branch). The Brahmins have been weakened by the prolonged period of receiving enormous oil rents: living on these enormous oil rents has led to the formation of a unique economic culture and of a specific economic structure. A long-term downward trend in oil prices is taking shape.
The results of the transition period (of transitional situation) will be clear and obvious in a few decades, and perhaps even a few years.
