In the literary world, he became more and more famous. However, due to circumstances, his fame was not converted into a financial well-being.
In the space of public opinion, he looked like a dubious person, morally vulnerable. His personal reputation and moral appearance have been criticized.
Attempts to integrate with the political elite, if they took place (attempts to get a place in the civil service can be attributed to such attempts?), did not lead to any significant results.
He remained a pure writer.
Genius and leadership in the literary world were combined in the life of Edgar Allan Poe with a financial insecurity, with a depression, with a doubtful reputation (in the "world" of well-meaning people).
Achievements - in the creative sphere, on the one hand, and a general feeling of discomfort, of a failure - in the public sphere, on the other hand, - perhaps this dissonance unites writers with relatively short lives - Edgar Allan Poe, Alexander Pushkin and Nikolai Gogol.
A look at personal life could reveal a one picture. And attention to the creative activity demonstrated (in past) and opens (nowerdays) a picture of achievements.
What to focus on? What to direct attention to?
The literary achievements, and new paths he discovered and founded, gave Edgar Allan Poe worldwide fame and secured him an honorary place in world literary history.
