Idlib and a diplomacy. The essay on the history of diplomacy.
Apparently, the historical process is arranged such a way that from time to time a large (or not very large) power faces the task of joining (in some form) a certain territory.
The general information background allows to identify some features of Turkey's actions in connection with the events in Idlib (in the 'area of Idlib').
This topic is interesting as a variant of the experience of a practical diplomacy.
The "general information background" constantly states:
1.Idlib - the territory of Syria. Nobody seems to dispute this statement.
2. The legal government of Syria, which controls the city of Damascus and other territories of Syria, is largely delegitimized [delegalized] (de facto) in the eyes of a significant "part" of world public opinion.
To this we add the following impressions:
1. The Turkey's actions in Idlib are generally met with either a neutral or a positive reaction from the "main part" of world public opinion and the world community.
2. The modern government of Turkey continues, in general, pro-European politics, the traditions of which were laid down by the founder and first president of the Turkish Republic, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Pasha Atatürk (1881 - 1938).
3. The specific 'Idlib direction' - it is the object of the "revitalizing", in a special way, by means of influence on immigration flows (to Europe).
4. The foreign policy of Turkey - both as a whole and "the Idlib direction" - is focused on the interests of the broad masses of the middle class of Turkey.
5. Today, de facto, and to some extent, de jure, the interests of Turkey in Idlib are recognized.
A summation.
Without the significant negative foreign policy consequences, Turkey has a chance to gain a foothold in Idlib (perhaps this has already happened), and under a favorable foreign policy conditions, Turkey can come close to solving the problem of a joining this territory.
