Liprandi and Dzerzhinsky. A brief review of the biographical work by Alexei Vostrikov "Liprandi. Special Assignments"

Dear Alexei Vostrikov, calls Ivan Petrovich Liprandi the founder of the military police ("Corps commander General Vorontsov and chief of staff General Mikhail Orlov instructed Lieutenant Colonel Liprandi to organize a "military police "- an innovation, unknown to the Russian army.").

From where the propensity of Ivan Liprandi to the leadership over the military police?

'... He can be compared with an operational computer system that operates according to the internal laws of formal logic and does not recognize any other.' (A.Vostrikov).

He was instructed to organize a military police, but ...

'It is intelligence service, and in its original form (not yet divided into sabotage, undercover and analytical branches), that will become for Liprandi a direct occupation for a quarter of a century.' (A.Vostrikov).

Liprandi is a descendant of a businessman who moved to Russia from Piedmont. There are connections in the Russian environment... But not those as Alexander Pushkin possesses, who is distanted (exiled?) to the South.

'Did Pushkin know about the secret activities of Liprandi? It is unknown ... ... the young man [Pushkin] for him [Liprandi] just humanly attractive - and he [Liprandi] makes for him more than other enthusiastic admirers of talent. He does: tells, shows, teaches ... '(A.Vostrikov).

A business was not limited only Pushkin ...

'Nicholas [the First] becomes aware of the 27-year-old translator of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mikhail Butashevich-Petrashevsky, an eccentric freethinker who collects the similiar talkers on Fridays at home ... In a minute of irritation against Orlov, or in some other reasons, but the emperor instructs Perovsky to investigate. And Perovsky gave assignment Liprandi.' (A.Vostrikov).

If you will look at the list of members of the Petrashevsky's circle, you will find many surnames ...

  Even - Perovsky ...

But the investigation is being conducted by Liprandi.

If you look at the dates, then not only Fyodor Dostoevsky, but also Josef-Jan Dzerzhinsky (grandfather of Felix Edmundovich) or one of the sons of Josef-Jan Dzerzhinsky could be among the 'connections' of Petrashevsky.

The energy of Liprandi does not meet with approval.

'... all the strongest [Influential] people in the state have subordinates, or even relatives, included in shameful lists. Even Perovsky and Kiselyov themselves are not happy that they got involved: because of Liprandi they can quarrel with the whole the world ...' (A.Vostrikov).

The result of the work of the [investigative] commission: 'Instead of a ramified conspiracy, there is a group of immoral, spoiled young people.' (A.Vostrikov).

The surname 'Dzerzhinsky' is not in the list of members of the Petrashevsky's circle. As follows from the biography of Felix Edmundovich, the events developed in such a way that during the attempt on V.I. Lenin Dzerzhinsky was on the road - he was going to investigate the assassination attempt against Uritsky; during period of suppressing the 'rebellion' of the Left Socialist Revolutionaries, he was as if under arrest; and during the execution of Nicholas the Second (with his family) Felix Edmundovich was temporarily retired.

Or a coincidence of events, or - a good intuition.

One way or another, the name 'Dzerzhinsky' was not in the list of Petrashevists. But Dostoevsky was arrested ...

Liprandi was transferred to the theme of "schismatics." '... rumors are circulating around the ministry about certain 'omissions in the service' and, even more disgusting, about bribes from schismatics' (A.Vostrikov).

'In 1866, Ivan Petrovich Liprandi became a full member of the Society of the History of Antiquities of Russia at Moscow University. ... He [Liprandi] needed the opportunity to speak himself. Over the last twenty years of his life, Liprandi has published dozens of works, thousands of pages in the Readings [the periodical] ... of the Society. ... And their only goal is the restoration of truth and justice: to history, and therefore to him personaly [to Liprandi]' (A.Vostrikov).

'He overlived his enemies and his patrons' (A.Vostrikov). Ivan Petrovich Liprandi, general, military historian, memoirist, died at the age of 89 in 1880.

Felix Edmundovich was born in 1877. From 1887 to 1895 he studied at the gymnasium. Perhaps F.E. Dzerzhinsky was familiar with the work of Ivan Liprandi.

If such an opportunity will arise, many readers will read with interest the biographical article by Alexei Vostrikov about Felix Edmundovich Dzerzhinsky. Dzerzhinsky (in addition to other posts) was the People's Commissar of Railway Transport. Lenin died on January 21, 1924. F.E. Dzerzhinsky since February 1924 - Chairman of the Supreme Economic Council of the USSR.
