    The Dialogue about Confucius

  The Dialogue about Confucius

The Reader and the Readeress were walking along the city street.

The Readeress has paid attention to unusual behavior of the Reader. He periodically looked back. In his mood the nervousness was felt.

  - Something you today, seems, somewhat is unusual, - said the Readeress. - Why?

  - T - s - s - s..., - reacted the Reader and looked around again. Having seen what behind the back of nobody isn't present, he, at last, has explained the behavior:

  - I read one book here ... Well, you know ... I have read here one fragment, and I have begun to worry ... Well, you understand ... Now because... Well what to explain ...

  - I don't know what you're talking about, - the Readeress reacted.

The Reader invited her to around the corner of the house and read the fragment of text in whisper:

  - "...For Sun Yat-sen and Chiang Kai-shek, the basic concepts on which all their theoretical constructions and actions in politics were based were the interrelated concepts of "state" and "nation" ("people"). In Chinese, there is the "min" the base word ("Root word"), that covers the concepts of "people" and "nation"; in other words, it is all about people belonging to a given nation, the nation of Han people, without distinguishing them by social characteristics, without dividing them into hostile classes. In the view of Chiang Kai-shek, the concepts of nation, people, state were inseparable. He is the nationalist, a statesman, that is, a supporter of the national state, the Republican state."

  - So what? - the Readeress didn't understand.

  - You what, you don't understand? - the Reader has repeated, fixedly looking in eyes to the Readeress.

The Readeress began "to reach" the meaning. She has shuddered.

The Reader continued to read in a whisper:

  - "Sun Yat-sen believed that, first of all, the nation should be United by a common idea of patriotism, the struggle for the survival of not only each individual, but also the survival of the nation as a whole, because it is threatened with extinction, degeneration. ( ... ) In practice, this meant the need to unite all of China under one Central government. Sun Yat-sen kept in mind the single country, the unitary state, the unification into one Chinese nation, the nation of Zhonghua, representatives of all nationalities living in China, as well as the unity of the territory of China, the inadmissibility of allocating any of its constituent parts or territory, not to mention any nationality. The unity of the nation and the unity of the territory are the two cornerstones of Sun Yat-sen and Chiang Kai-shek's ideas about the Chinese nation and the Chinese state. At the same time, Sun Yat-sen and Chiang Kai-shek sought to achieve such a goal as the creation of a modern, prosperous, powerful, United, democratic state, having previously or simultaneously achieved that the Zhonghua nation was free and equal among the Nations of the world."

  - Y-e-e-e-s..., - the Readeress has watchfully spoken. She has looked back too:

  - But that's all theories. ... chatting one thing, and do - quite another.

  - Well... As a theories, how demagogy? - the Reader has begun to worry. - Now... I began to get acquainted with books about China...

  - What could you read about? - Readeress derisively glanced at the Reader.

  - For example, I have read about the last Chinese emperor Puyi. He was born in 1906. After overthrow of the monarchy in 1911 for him a hard times have begun.

  - He and his family were executed by a firing squad? Have dumped down into the mine?

  - He collaborated with Japanese authorities.

In Wikipedia this is what is written: "August 19, 1945 at Mukden he was captured by the airborne troops under the command of the special representative the Transbaikal front and the Soviet government in Mukden the major-General Alexander Dorofeevich Pritula... After the capture of the Emperor was kept in a prisoner-of-war camp near Khabarovsk. He was a witness for the prosecution at the Tokyo trial in August 1946 and testified during 8 days [the International Military Tribunal for the Far East in Tokyo].

In 1949, with the establishment in China of the power of Communists Puyi wrote a letter to the Chairman of the Council of Ministers Of the USSR I.V. Stalin with a request not to transfer him to the Chinese authorities. He also wrote that his acquaintance with the works of Marx and Lenin in the prison library made a deep impression on him and changed his worldview. Puyi was returned to China in 1950.

In China he has been sent to the Fushun War Criminals Management Centre in Liaoning province, and released as "re-educated" in 1959 according the special permission of Mao Zedong.".

  - In the USSR it wasn't succeeded to remain ... He was executed by a firing squad? Have dumped down?..

  - Since 1959, he settled again in Beijing, where he worked in the Botanical garden, and then as archivist at the national library. Since 1964 he was member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference [and the National People's Congress].

Here is that written in book by V.N. Usov "The Last Emperor of China" [published in Russian]:

"On June 10, 1961, Zhou Enlai [the Premier] held a reception at the State Council, to which Puyi and his closest relatives were invited. At the official reception, which lasted about five hours, was also arrived from Japan, the wife of Pujie and her youngest daughter, Husheng, accompanied by the mother of Saga, Hisako, and the younger sister of the wife, Mitiga Kotoko. ( ... ) Zhou Enlai, speaking to the audience, noted that among those present there is a former Emperor and court aristocracy, now they all live on equal rights, as we do. Puyi in the Beijing Botanical garden studies tropical plants, and voluntarily participates in the work. His brother Pujie is studying gardening in Jingshan Park. Their third sister is a member of the district Committee of CPPCC of Dongcheng District, Beijing, the fifth sister has absolutely independently become the accountant, the sixth sister, a good calligrapher and artist, the seventh - the hero of working activities, the excellent teacher of elementary school. Who will tell you now, when you go on the street - that this former Emperor, aristocracy, bureaucrats."

  - Somehow it is unclear...

  - "In the autumn of 1961, Chairman Mao Zedong personally participated in the official reception of the former Emperor in residence in Zhongnanhai. They had lunch together and and were photographed. Puyi was well acquainted with this former Imperial complex."

The Readeress, probably, didn't know what to tell.

Reader and Readeress continued their walk along a street, keeping a silence.
