After participating in the defense of Rostov-on-Don (in November 1941), after being evacuated, after completing his studies in secondary school, Vladimir Vasilievich studied at a technical school for some time.
At the technical school, he unexpectedly showed himself on the positive side. He achieved to correct, a propos [by the way, in time], a some German trophy device, something like Enigma, which at the technical school was shown to the students and guests of the technical school as a kind of a curiose thing of the extraterrestrial origin.
Life at the technical school was quite lively.
Vladimir Vasilievich began boxing in the sports section.
But young people have needs to communicate with the opposite sex. And Vladimir Vasilievich became the head of the weekly dances at the technical school.
It was in post-war Rostov. So the guys from the surrounding areas, coming to the technical school to dance, behaved culturally. They neatly put pistols and knives in a special nightstand for a period of a pleasant pastime. There were no scandals and unpleasant situations at the dances.
Then Vladimir Vasilievich went to study at the Polytechnic Institute, studied for only the highest marks, and almost got to the Council of Ministers through the procedure of state distribution, but ceded his right to a participant in the Great Patriotic War with a family (a wife and children) and with military orders (awards).
On the advice of sincere friends, - both of them were participants in the war, one "atoned for the guilt" for his father-accountant (bookkeeper), who was imprisoned, and whom the family did not accept after his release, and the second had the experience of being in captivity (without any unpleasant effect for his life and destiny) - Vladimir Vasilievich went to Central Asia to hunt tigers. Having a father - an official participant and a disabled war veteran, he could have stayed in Rostov-on-Don (and not go anywhere), but he felt a patriotic duty, and why not hunt tigers, why not become a kind of Livingstone, who is famous throughout all the world?
In Kazakhstan, Vladimir Vasilievich, in a distant mine covered with poisonous dust, for several years led a brigade of persons who committed serious violent crimes. Huge, cyclopous, mine motors, under the supervision of Vladimir Vasilievich, worked properly. The breakdowns were somehow miraculously repaired in the shortest possible time. The country received the metal needed to build space rockets and other newest items.
So when the term of work of a young specialist established by law (after distribution) ended, the management did not want to let Vladimir Vasilievich to go off the mine. He had to go to court. The judge - from local residents, she knew little Russian - refused to satisfy the complaint.
How Vladimir Vasilievich parted with the mine - it remained his little mystery.
But his sincere friends might to recieve the possibility not to see him, at all, in Rostov-on-Don after his hunting tigers in Central Asia.
Vladimir Vasilievich returned to Rostov. The "old" winds were still blowing. On a sites for cinema, in huge shady yards, films were shown once a week in summer with the help of a mobile cinema devices.
And on some days at the same sites, comrade courts, composed of local residents, were sitting, who quite quickly, efficiently and fairly dealt with local conflicts.
On the streets there were walking people with red armbands - members of a Voluntary People's Druzhina - who had a calming effect on law-abiding citizens and on criminals.
The media of that era was filled with stories about the importance of a responsible personal position and actions of every citizen of the country.
Added to this was experience from the working at mine.
Under the influence of all this blissful atmosphere, Vladimir Vasilievich somehow took and escorted a certain figure to the militia department, who walked around the apartments and collected money from the tenants under some far-fetched pretext - supposedly for charitable purposes.
But the outer side is one thing, and the deep mood is another. Something was gradually changing ...
This incident ended with nothing. The collector of money could calmly wait for other, more favorable, times.
Gradually, Vladimir Vasilievich got involved in the defense-related research business.
It is known that he had neither predecessors, nor assistants, nor advisers - he himself visited the Council of Ministers and the State Planning Committee. Later many went along his paths and roads. But at first he was alone on the path of the Soviet scientific entrepreneur - a kind of Soviet Igor Sikorsky. In the State Planning Commission, he received some special documents ("наряды"). Almost no information was left about this business. It's a secret matter - a work in favour of the submarine (nuclear ?!) - fleet!
He knew how to work, but to pump a means out of a Soviet scientific business - somehow his family upbringing did not allow him.
So he did not have the opportunity to take influential persons to Moscow restaurants and make valuable (on a Moscow scale) gifts.
But in Rostov-on-Don it was possible to get by with a simpler pastime. So he had a certain circle of friends with local influence.
When the youngest member of the family was attacked by a bully with criminal experience, a visit to the relevant authority (a visit with influential support) was quickly organized, and a gears began to spin.
Vladimir Vasilievich even saw some responsible person several times who was sitting in a car on the outskirts of the yard. This responsible man possibly did attempts to track down a criminal hooligan.
But the criminal bully turned out to be a tough nut to crack, and it was not possible to catch him. A some reasoning remained from this period, that the capture of a juvenile criminal hooligan brings a lot of worries.
Gradually, Vladimir Vasilievich began to feel more and more like a participant in controlled conflicts.
To this was added a certain strangeness of his behavior - a person disposed of large state money, but limited himself only to legal income.
A sin took place - he hired a typistess - but she de facto did not work in favour of nuclear submarines, but she sat and typed in some important local department ...
It became clear, that it's necessary to spend a money on a personal car (from family funds) - for a long time work was carried out in rented premises located in different parts of the city. At the time, the cost of a car was comparable to that of a cooperative apartment. So, a defense research was funded not only from the state budget.
In general, his career in the field of research for the Soviet submarine fleet gradually ended ...
In any process, there is a beginning and there is an end.
